Dennis Hong MD FRCSC FACS
Dennis is an Associate Professor at McMaster University specializing in bariatric surgery.
His bariatric surgery fellowship training was completed at Legacy Health in Portland, Oregon and Queensland University in Brisbane, Australia.
Dennis is a former member of the Board of Directors for the Canadian Association of Bariatric Physicians and Surgeons of Canada. He is an author on the recently published Clinical Practice Guidelines for Obesity.
Dr. Hong has performed thousands of bariatric surgeries and is internationally recognized for his bariatric surgical expertise.
Karim Ramji MD MBA FRCSC ABOM
Karim is a Canadian fellowship trained bariatric surgeon, a fellow of the Royal College Surgeons and Physicians of Canada and also a Diplomate of the American Board of Obesity Medicine.
Karim trained in bariatrics at McMaster University, General Surgery at the University of Toronto and holds a Masters in Business Administration from the Rotman School of Business.
Dr. Ramji continues to operate at St. Joseph's Healthcare Hamilton alongside Drs. Hong and Doumouras. He also speaks Canada-wide on weight loss surgical solutions and continues to contribute to the academic bariatric landscape with journal publications.
Aristithes Doumouras MD MPH FRCSC
Ari is an Assistant Professor at McMaster University specializing in bariatric surgery.
His bariatric surgery fellowship training was completed at McMaster University and he received a Master of Public Health from Harvard University.
He is a published author of more than 90 papers on bariatric surgery as well as two book chapters.
Dr. Doumouras has won several international grants and prizes for his research work and is recognized as an emerging leader in Canadian bariatrics.

A premium surgical experience - starts with You
On the day of surgery, you will arrive an hour prior to your appointment and be seen by our pre-operative nurse and anesthesiologist who will review your health information.
You will soon meet your team of surgeons who will answer any additional questions about your Sleeve gastrectomy prior to surgery.
You will then change into your surgical robe and be escorted to your private surgical suite.
After your 30-45 minute surgery is completed, you will awake from anesthesia in the operating room and then be transferred to the recovery room.
For 2-4 hours you will remain under the care and supervision of our recovery nurse, our anesthesiologist and our surgical team. We will work to treat your pain and nausea and keep these both to a minimum.
Once you feel comfortable, can walk and drink with ease, you will be given a prescription for pain and nausea medications and a family and/or friend can be called to pick you up.
In the following days, our surgeons and nurses will call you at home and check to make sure you are on your path to swift recovery!
